Dr. Freeman Hrabowski III kicked off the day’s events by giving a talk to students and faculty during a special All School Meeting in Cochran Chapel. The son of African American schoolteachers who taught for decades in the segregated schools of Birmingham, Alabama, Hrabowski shared his parents’ passion for education and pursued his own path in academia, which eventually led to his 1992 appointment as president of the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC), a position he continues to hold. This is an excerpt of his speech.

Hiram Bingham and Machu Picchu - 30th Annual Northeast Conference on Andean Archaeology and Ethnohistory
Greetings Everyone,
After two years, the alumni-sponsored internships have become very popular with our PA young alums. My personal thanks to those who listed summer opportunities on the link below. What a diverse list!
Please note, job shadowing and informational interviews are also welcome on the list if you can't offer an internship but want to participate. Every little bit helps in a tough economy.
I hope you find you can learn from these ambitious, college-age students as much as you give while you share what you do. The degree of their talent, energy, and gratitude is remarkable.
